March 24th, 2010, By Philip Johnston, Telegraph Twenty of Britain’s most senior doctors have called for a ban on smoking in cars as part of a sweeping expansion of laws to protect children against the effects of inhaling smoke. Why stop there? Will there be a ban on smoking in homes next? When one of the doctors was asked this question he said that would be a bit too extreme because it could not be policed. In other words, he had no objection to the state’s invasion of private property, merely that it would be a difficult law to uphold. This has gone too far.
