How much should we change our laws in response to the terror threat - and in changing them are we doing the terrorists' job for them? Almost every year since 2001, this government has introduced new terrorism legislation. The latest proposal is that the police should have the power to hold people for up to 56 days without charging them. Henry Porter describes it as a putsch against our freedoms.
