A special constable who gave an off-duty soldier a "good beating" while arresting him has been jailed for three years. The soldier had been mistakenly identified as someone reported to be causing a nuisance to paramedics. Peter Lightfoot 40, was convicted by a jury at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court of charges of assaulting former Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall, then deliberately lying in court in a bid to cover up what he had done.
